Meet Najin

An encounter at Ol Pejeta.

Najin lives at Ol Pejeta Conservancy with her daughter, Fatu. They are the last two northern white rhinos. Meeting them gives that fact a presence no statistic can convey.

Standing next to Najin, time stopped. I watched her graze, going about her day, with no idea what she and Fatu represent. That was the thing that stayed with me. To photograph the last two northern white rhinos was an honor and a privilege.

From Lens to Line.

Several photographs of Najin were considered, and different orientations were tested before the final mark took shape. The selected portrait became the reference for the geometric interpretation shown here.

The connection to Ol Pejeta continues through this design. Tembo contributes 30% of profits from the Najin piece directly to the conservancy, supporting its conservation work.
