Zebra running in a snowy landscape

Expeditions

Step into the wild.

Help protect its future.

Tembo was built on a promise to the wild places that inspired it. Now that promise opens to a small circle of travelers, guided into the field by our founder himself.

THE GUIDE

Mital Patel

Tembo began with a camera, long before it became a collection. Mital Patel spent years tracking elephants across East Africa, learning their patience and their peril in equal measure. That time in the field is where the brand's whole purpose was born.

Each year, he steps away from the studio and back into the wild, leading a handful of travelers through the same landscapes that shaped Tembo from the start. No more than a dozen seats. No detail left to chance.

Two expeditions. Two guides who know the terrain better than most. One shared belief that the closer we get to the wild, the harder we work to protect it.

Expeditions

Wild Africa

Ten days across Samburu and Maasai Mara, timed to the great wildebeest migration. Lions, elephants, leopards, and a herd a million and a half strong, crossing the Mara River in search of water.

Mornings start before sunrise. Evenings end around a fire, reviewing the day's frames with your guides. A single row in the safari vehicle for every traveler, so nothing gets in the way of the view.

Svalbard

Above the Arctic Circle, savanna gives way to pack ice. Polar bears move across frozen water. Walrus gather on the shore. The R/V Kinfish carries eleven travelers through fjords too narrow for any larger ship.

No fixed itinerary. The route follows the ice, the weather, and the wildlife, one of the last truly untouched corners of the world.
